Solemn ceremony "Professional Olympus" held at BMZ
Teams and employees who showed their worth most vividly in 2020 were honored at OJSC “BSW - management company of “BMC” holding” on February 25. There were 22 nominations at the annual Professional Olympus awarding ceremony. Among the heroes are the best production and auxiliary shops, as well as a manager, foreman, public inspector, young specialist and even an athlete.
Traditionally, the right to open the ceremony was given to Dmitry Korchik, General Director of OJSC “BSW - management company of “ BMC” holding. Before presenting the first awards, he addressed the works employees. General Director noted that the past 2020 was one of the most difficult for BMZ. The COVID-19 pandemic made adjustments to both the lives of employees and the situation in the global steel market. Nevertheless, steel workers managed to properly organize their work and cope with the difficult situation. - Despite various difficulties, we worked and fulfilled our obligations to customers. BMZ exported 2 million tons of steel products to 53 countries in 2020 while the share of innovative products in the total volume of shipments amounted to 23.3 percent. This is a high indicator, which confirms that the works did not stop in its development. Such a vector has been determined for the future, - noted D. Korchik, - For this result, I would like to thank the BMZ team of many thousands. And particularly those who are deservedly awarded the high calling to be the laureate of the Professional Olympus award.
The winners in special nominations were invited to the festive stage first. The "Special Calling" award was given to the BMZ hospital staff being at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. The winner of the cup in the “Social Project” nomination was a team of company specialists who worked on a project for the construction of an apartment building for steel workers, which was commissioned in May 2020. “Wings of Hope” award went to the instrumentation and automation department, which took an active part in all charity events held by the company.

“Production Leader” - Steel Wire Shop No. 3. It is also recognized as “Energy Efficiency Leader” (among the main shops).
"Assurance Leader" - Energy Repair Shop.
“Energy Efficiency Leader” (among the auxiliary shops) - Railway Shop.
“Success of the Year” (the best manager) – Yevgeny Ragozik, Chief of Steel Wire Shop No. 1.
"Discovery of the Year" (the best young manager) - Dmitry Pekurin , Chief of Planning and Production Bureau of SWSh-2.
“Idea of the Year” (the best innovator) - Vasily Shapovalov, a senior foreman of Cable Area No. 2 of SWsh-2.
"Foreman of the Year" - Gleb Zhelobkov, a foreman of hot rolling mill 150 in SWSh-1.
“Professional of the Year” - Denis Ganiev, a steel caster of Continuous Casting Machine No. 2 in Steel-making Shop-1.
“Start of the Year” (the best young specialist) - Sergey Savchenko, a manufacturing engineer of Technical Board.
"Mentor of the Year" - Sergey Shekhurdin, Process Engineer (leading) of Technical Board.
"Team of the Year" (for the best organization of information and ideological work) - Steel Wire Shop No. 2.
"Service of the Year" (the best canteen) - canteen No. 8 of the unitary enterprise “Metallurgsocservice”.
"Initiative of the Year" (the best public inspector for labor protection) - Dmitry Guzov, a driver of weighing-and-packing machines of the 4th category of the finished products and packaging warehouse in SWSh-1.
“Talent of the Year” - Maksim Usik, a foreman for equipment maintenance of the finishing line in the Pipe Rolling Shop electrician service.
"Athlete of the Year" - Dmitry Shkoda, an operator of the control room of the 4th grade at the hot rolling mill of Rolling Mill Shop-2.
“Production Leader” is the construction unitary enterprise “Zhlobinmetallurgstroy”.
"Professional of the Year" among workers of the unitary enterprises - Alexander Kovalyov, a road worker of UE "Metallurgsotsservice", Valery Knyazev, a plasterer of UE "Zhlobinmetallurgstroy", Yuryi Savchenko, a house painter of UE "Metallurgtrans", Svetlana Doroshchenko, a livestock breeder of UE "Paporotnoye”, Dmitry Matushkin, a loader driver of “BMZ-Ecoservice ".
It should be noted that 9 employees of the “BMC” holding enterprises were also awarded the title of "Professional of the Year".
OJSC “Rechitsa Hardware Plant” was recognized as "Production Leader” among the holding enterprises".
In the finale of this special day, to the applause of those present, the winners in all nominations took the stage again. The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the "Professional Olympus" prize ended with asolemn performance of the BMZ anthem. Congratulationstoallthewinners!
