BMZ continues large modernization program
In 2015 the largest modernization in the history of BMZ enters a final phase. BMZ plans to complete the works at 4 important facilities. As results of 2014 the investments of Byelorussian Steel Works in basic capital were BYB 3,717 trillion.
In 2015 one of the important projects of BMZ is “Organization of Rolling Production with construction of light section mill”. At present the project and construction works were finished, the erection of equipment and commissioning where foreign contractors participate are in progress. Investments in basic capital were Euro 342,1 mln from the beginning of project realization as of February 1, 2015.
The disbalance between the production capacity of arc furnaces and CC machines in the melting shops will be liquidated with the commissioning of facility “Increase of production capacity of secondary metallurgy at Steel Melting Shop-2”.
As a result, the production capacity will increase till 3 million tons of liquid steel per year and the steel quality will be assured at the same time. At present the building and assembly works are in active phase at this facility. Investments in basic capital were Euro 33,6 mln. from the beginning of project realization as of February 1, 2015.
The reconstruction of de-dusting plant №3 will allow the enterprise to reduce ecological load on environment. The main goal of complex reconstruction of de-dusting plant №3 is the improvement of environmental conditions around the enterprise and the decrease of heat loss via primary off gases and the total CO combustion. At present the construction and erection works that can be carried out without stopping of EAF №3 are in progress at this facility. Investments in basic capital were Euro 5,7 mln. as of February 1, 2015 at this facility.
BMZ and some strategic partners have founded the joint enterprise “BMZ-GKC” to realize the investment project “Construction of air separation plant №3”. At present the building and assembly works are in final phase at this facility. As of January 01, 2015 investments in basic capital were Euro 28,1 mln. from the beginning of project realization.
It should be noted, that from 2012 within modernization program several key projects have been finished: modernization of bead wire unit at Wire Plant-1, start-up of pipe finishing area-3, new lime kiln № 3 was constructed, comprehensive reconstruction of the arc furnace №1, reconstruction of de-dusting plant № 1 and continuous billet casting machine №2, etc.
All these facilities allow the company to increase high value production, to lay in the raw stock and to minimize the environmental impact.
